Focus and Devices

There was a great story on NPR recently about how being connected with so many devices and consuming the huge amount of data that we do robs us of the downtime needed to process and integrate all that new knowledge.

Check out the story here: @NPR.org

As for me, the five-minute focus practice has been amazing. I still do it daily, and try to do it before I begin work each morning. It's a nice period of complete "me time," and I usually begin work with a clear and calm mind. This is certainly something I will continue to practice.

My conversations have also improved, at least from my side. I have been more focused on listening than I had been before this month, and I don't have that scary feeling that my brain is trying to escape while listening to someone. In fact, I haven't been having that brain-trying-to-move-in-7-100-different-directions feeling much lately at all. It's nice.

Have you tried to focus on focus? How is it going?

I'll be back soon with my September Resolution...
